Elle Fanning is just 12-years-old, but she already has top designers clamoring to dress her. At a recent slew of press events and premieres, she has worn Marc Jacobs, Rodarte and Valentino—just to name a few! People admire Elle's ability to make grown-up clothes youthful and her own.
But fashion news outlets are divided on the issue. Some, like The Daily Beast, are equally enamored with Elle, while others are questioning fashion's sudden obsession with someone who isn't even in her teens. They say it signifies something inherently wrong with how the industry operates and who it's designing for. Jezebel says:
"Elle Fanning is an adorable girl who shows all signs of being a very competent actress. But holding her up as a fashion exemplar largely because she's a child is just plain creepy. And frankly, beyond parody."
In head-to-toe Rodarte, Elle wore a gold look from their spring 2011 collection to a NYC screening; She was adorable in a black Valentino Couture dress with silver shoes (both bedecked with bows) to the L.A. premiere; Fanning wore another Valentino dress (this one made of lace) and mary-janes to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Governor’s Ball.
Fanning attended the premiere of The Nutcracker: 3D in a blue embellished Azzaro dress and jeweled Mui Mui heels – a sparkling Jennifer Behr headpiece finished the look; Elle wore a white spring 2011 Marchesa look to the ELLE Women in Hollywood event.
